School Sponsorprogramma

Erastus has been sponsored by Gill Segger from the United Kingdom. Gill, thank you so much for enabling Erastus to have an education!

Birthday: 15th of June 2003

Erastus is seventeen years old and lives with his family in the Soweto Slums in Kahawa, Nairobi. His eight year old younger brother goes to the Kahawa Primary School, but the family cannot afford the school fees for the Secondary School for Erastus. His Father is unable to earn a decent income due to alcohol addiction, so it is up to the mother to keep the family alive with small jobs. It becomes particularly difficult for Erastus, his brother and mother if his father is under too much stress and takes its aggressions out of them. Because the mother has to take care of the children on the one hand and make money for the family on the other, there is sometimes hardly any money for food and so they often live without lunch.

Erastus successfully completed primary school in 2017 and has not been in school since then. However, if he can, he would like to go to secondary school and then learn the mechanic profession at college.
His dream is to become a driver, whether taxi driver, Uber driver, private driver or Matatu driver. He thinks it's great to bring people from one place to another and sees this job as a great way to make money. He says that there are a lot of people in Kenya travelling with the Matatu and that he would always have a lot of customers.

He loves to meet friends in his free time, listen to music and dance to the music. He likes to help with the housework, takes care of his brother and loves his mother more than anything.
